Founded in 2012, GHP Law was created to provide clear and practical advice to business clients, backed by strong experience of the commercial legal sphere.

As lawyers, we pride ourselves on our deep and detailed knowledge of the legal worlds we operate in. As people, we’re proud of being approachable and straight up. Combining the two means our clients always know where they stand.

The law is ever-changing. It’s not enough to perform the same kind of legal work over and over again. Understanding this – and serving our clients best – means responding to change with new ideas and new ways of working. That’s why we’re dedicated to being open with our clients, to keeping them abreast of legal realities, and bring their business ambitions to life.

Whether we are solving property problems, advising clients on joint ventures or RMA issues, our approach is the same – cutting through the complexity, and finding the best possible way forward, every single time.

Dunedin has always been my home, growing up here and graduating from the University of Otago in 2004.

After practising locally for many years, I made the decision to establish a new firm in 2012. I wanted a practice that reflected my own values, a firm where I could take real ownership of my clients' legal needs.

We have certainly grown since we opened but have stayed true to those original values.

Along with a great team of staff we have a firm that's focused squarely on our clients and their legal issues. We're there for them. I believe that this kind of commitment breeds real trust, and that's the difference.

Our clients know that our door is open, and we'll find the answer.

After graduating from the University of Otago in 2013, I was admitted to the bar and began my career in Christchurch. The post-earthquake environment in Christchurch at that time was fertile legal ground and provided me with the perfect platform to gain valuable experience on a wide range of private client and commercial matters.

In 2016 I relocated home to Dunedin to build on my existing network of relationships formed during my secondary school and university years.
Since returning to Dunedin, I have seen a need for accessible, local lawyers who provide practical, clear advice that clients understand. That is why I am pleased to join GHP Law, a firm known for delivering quality results and not sugar coating their approach.

Sam, Henry and I work closely together and advise on a wide range of legal matters. In particular, I have a special interest in commercial, rural and residential property matters, as well as asset protection / planning.

Having grown up on the Taieri Plains, I graduated from the University of Otago with a law and commerce degree in 2010.

The next 9 years were spent working in another commercial law firm in Dunedin. These years involved advising on a broad range of commercial transactions such as the sale and purchase of commercial, rural and residential properties, commercial and rural leases, the acquisition and sale of businesses and capital raises. Other advisory work included advising on commercial contracts such as manufacturing agreements and advising on asset structuring (i.e. shareholders’ agreements and Trusts etc).

Having worked with Sam previously and then having seen his firm grow and develop, the decision to join him at the firm in 2020 was easily made. I now look forward to working with Sam and the rest of the team at GHP Law and providing pragmatic commercial legal advice to our clients.

Born and raised on a farm in the Deep South, I graduated from the University of Otago in 2007, returning home to join the rural team at a local firm.

In 2009, I shifted to Dunedin and became a Barrister, specialising in family litigation. I was fortunate to gain exposure to some high-level cases during this time and learnt a lot about effective advocacy, and the importance of excellent legal drafting.

After a small break, while my children were young, I spent 5 years as a legal manager for a software start-up based in Dunedin. During this time, I gained valuable insight into the day-to-day running of the business as it scaled from a small business to an international operation.

In 2019, I joined the team at Guest Hambleton. I now work closely with Sam to offer legal advice on a broad range of commercial and property matters. I am a passionate advocate for my clients and have a particular interest in succession planning and relationship property matters.

Outside of the office, you will find me exploring the beautiful south coast with my family.

Born and raised in North Otago, I completed my law degree at the University of Otago, graduating in 2021.

I began my legal career in the Private Client field at another local firm before joining the GHP team in 2023, where I collaborate with partner, Henry Hambleton, assisting him with Private Client, Property and Commercial matters. I take pride in working closely with clients to ensure they are well-informed throughout their transaction and to deliver practical, tailored solutions to achieve their desired outcomes.

Outside of work I enjoy spending time exploring the beautiful city of Dunedin with my family, renovating our home, club netball, coffee catch ups with friends, and heading to the beach with my golden retriever.

A Dunedin Local, I graduated from the University of Otago in 2020 with a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts.

I began my career in North Otago, working in general practise law firm. Here, I gained exposure to many areas of law from property to family law. I developed skills in legal drafting and enjoyed assisting clients on a broad range of transactions.

I moved back home to Dunedin and after a short stint in local government, I returned to private practise. My role in local government allowed me to be involved in some high-level retail lease negotiations and learn more about the benefits and the complexities of commercial leasing.

I joined the GHP team in 2023 and work closely with both Henry and Rob on a broad range of legal matters. To me, it is essential that all clients receive the same level of advocacy and care on their transactions whether those be large or small, and I take great care in ensuring clients feel their matters are prioritised.

Outside of work you will find me walking my sausage dog Douglas, running at the harbour front, or checking out Dunedin’s food scene.
